Jay Underwood graduated with his masters degree in Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1992. While at the University of Northern Colorado, he studied with Dr. Gustav Mueller and Dr. Larry Shotland, who was also a personal friend and mentor.
Jay was awarded a summer intramural research fellowship in auditory research and Diagnostic Audiology, at the National Institutes of Health, Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders in Bethesda, Maryland in 1991. In 1992 he was invited back to NIH to complete his externship in a medical setting as well as complete his masters program. After completion of his Graduate program, he relocated to St. Augustine, Florida and has been a private practice dispensing audiologist since then. Mr. Underwood holds a certificate in Clinical Audiology from the American Speech and Hearing Association. He has seen many changes in the world of hearing care and hearing aids over the last 24 years. Mr. Underwood employs highly skilled and experienced hearing care professionals and front office personnel to provide First Coast Hearing Clinic, Inc. patients with the highest quality hearing experience possible.
Aside from his dedication to his hearing care practice, Mr. Underwood is also a competition-class offshore fisherman and avid golfer. He lives in St. Augustine, Florida with his wife and recently married daughter.
